Yanmen
Chances are if you make it to Yanmen you've trekked from the Salween or you're travelling to or from Deqin. In both cases, the church south of town may be an interesting diversion, though the town itself is unremarkable except on market days.
Highlights
The main attraction is Cizhong Catholic Church, an early 20th century church established by French missionaries in the village of Cizhong, some five to ten kilometres south of town. To get there hitch south, cross the first bridge you come to, then follow the road up the hill.

Practicalities
Accomodation
A single guesthouse in town had no staff when we visited. Basic private rooms were available, with shared bathroom.

Food
Restaurants
There are a few basic eateries in town (noodles again!), but the largest is at the southern end on the eastern side. It features a large but covered outdoor dining area, and a good selection of vegetables.

Communications
There is no internet access available in the town. While China mobile maintains an office, they are unable to recharge any account outside of the local area.
