Baishuitai
A cluster of buildings around the base of the terraces themselves form the de-facto town of Baishuitai, which falls under the denomination of Sanba town. For most visitors a quick trip up to the mineral terraces (30元) is all they see of the area, though forest walks are also possible and a cave also stands nearby to the east, within three or four hours' walk.
Highlights

The Amingling Cave also stands to the east of the town, reportedly within three or four hours walk.

Practicalities
Getting In & Out
The first bus to Zhongdian departs at 8:30AM, while others pass through throughout the day - either heading north to Zhongdian or south to Haba, Jiangbian, Tiger Leaping Gorge or Lijiang.

Bicycle
After an initial downhill, a long but gradual climb to Haba stretches southward. To the north, near-endless lengthy climbs through wilder Yi minority country separates Haba from the next real center, Zhongdian. If heading this way you may consider throwing your bike on a bus and jumping off at the pass (垭口 yakou) before Zhongdian.

Getting About
Walking is simply the only option. Almost everything worth seeing is either off roads or within a hundred metres of the middle of town.

Accomodation
Basic accomodation is available in the town for 5-10元 per bed. Off the main road most of the local dwellings are in the Naxi style and feature the twin-fish motif.

Food
Restaurants
Being a tourist stop, food in the town is relatively expensive but more variety is available than at nearby Haba. Locally grown vegetables and wild mushrooms can be fried, while both the flatbread baba (粑粑) and rice noodles are also available. Expect to pay 5元 for boiled or fried noodles or a plate of vegetables, and 10元 or more for a plate of meat or mushrooms.

Communications
There is no internet access available, though both China Mobile and China Unicom have mobile phone coverage in the town.

Money
There are no banks in town, so don't forget to bring adequate funds.
